<p>Do any current students have any FYS recommendations? I was looking through the course catalog earlier and it looks like there is a ton of interesting stuff, and now I’m having trouble choosing! So if anybody has had a particularly remarkable experience with a certain professor or topic, that would be very helpful.</p>
<p>I didn’t get in either of my choices, but one of my friends took Global Environmental Change (in the geo dept), and he said it was a great class which gave a good scientific background on global warming (something many people at Brown could use before just repeating popular political rhetoric). Tropical marine biology is also supposed to be a great course, but hard to get into. Just mark off any FYS that seems interesting and see if it has any reviews on thecriticalreview.com</p>
<p>Do any of you happen to know anything about the class “Political Theory of Capitalism”? It’s on the FYS list, but there’s no course description or instructor. I’m thinking about taking it, but the title alone doesn’t really tell me that much.</p>
