Gainesville Mosquito like insect

I see them all the time. They’re like a dark black giant mosquito like insect. They never bothered me at all until today I noticed one on my shirt when I came home after running and I took my shirt off spray it down and killed it and blood came out .

So this insect was sucking away?

What the heck is this dark black mosquito thing I see all the time? It’s a very common insect around Gainesville. Never seen it back at home in south Florida.

I put a question mark by accident on middle sentence.

Lovebug possibly? I don’t know if you have them in South Florida or not. They are annoying, but completely harmless.

No love bug that is just a big skeeter. They are about 1 inch long, dark and will suck your blood.

Yes this is Florida land of bugs, heat and Gators.

hmmmm. Skeeter got big be/c he has been doing quite well-- much blood. yum! He’s probably been transmitting disease as well. If you come across the skeeter, duck him.
