Galaxy TabII

Santa came a bit early for me this Christmas. DH bought me TabII, and I must say, it’s a sweet little (actually, not so little) phone, a phablet! Who else has one of these? what apps have you loaded on it? What do you like best about it? I’ve only had it a couple of days, but it has come to my attention that I really should install an anti-virus/malware app on it. Which is the best of its kind, do you think? Thanks for the advice.

I got the actual Galaxy Tablet for DS for Christmas mainly so he could read books on it so I would suggest the Nook and Kindle apps. Then go to the Pixel of Ink website and search for free books there as well as searching “free” in the Nook section of the BN website!

Don’t have a Galaxy but I treated myself to a new Android tablet recently. Just fooling around with it has me all giddy. For apps, I’d would certainly recommend an Anti-Virus program, such as AVG Free. Get the e-reader apps for both Amazon Kindle and B&N Nook. There’s also FBReader and OverDrive for your public library’s e-books. For productivity/note-taking, I hear that Evernote is good. e-Weather is quite popular. I use 2xBattery to keep track of the power level. I’m not a game enthusiast but I downloaded Riptide-- a Jet Ski race-- and wow, I’m nearly embarrassed to say how much I enjoy it.

I am giving this same Tab to hubby for Christmas. I so want to open the box and play with it first.

By the way, Bitdefender has an anti-virus app for mobile devices. The desktop version is a great product that I’ve used for the last three years. The mobile version is a bit pricey at about 12 bucks. There are good free alternatives to Bitdefender and other paid apps.
