For anyone else going to Gallatin in the fall, or considering going/transferring in the future: what do you plan on studying? I think it’d be interesting to see all creative and unique concentrations people come up with.

I find the philosophy behind free will really interesting so I plan to study that alongside psych/sociology to look at how and why people make choices, and what are the results of those choices. I also want to incorporate some statistics and economics to try and figure out ways to predict those decisions and benefit from them… I’m not sure yet, but the idea is something I’ve always found interesting.

I’m thinking something business-related will be my main focus. Then, journalism, studio art, and some language. Not sure which one, yet. I want to work in investment, and then be a finance journalist.

Gallatin sounds wonderful and I know NYU is where I want to be, but I’m a little wary of the “degree in individualized study” and how legitimate it will look to employers. Especially because I want a career in business (at least for a little while) and Stern is RIGHT THERE.

Well, You are in good company. Let’s say VERY SUCCESSFUL company. Word is that two famous stars are or may be joining you at NYU Gallatin this coming fall.

SatelliteHeart, Gallatin really sounds like a unique program where you can combine different and unique studies. With some very entrepreneurial and successful classmates, who is to say you cannot combine business with other interest areas?
