Gallatin Help Asap!!!!!!!

****THIS IS LONG. PLEASE READ, I NEED HELP PRONTO! MY SCHEDULE IS DUE TOMORROW.

Hello! I’ve been hearing tons about the Gallatin school at NYU and I’ve realized this is where I want to go to college (I’m a junior). I’m visitng in April and I’m pretty sure I’m going to apply Early decision in the fall. But I have a problem, I’m trying to schedule courses for my senior year and I don’t know what to take, cause I know Gallatin looks for pursuing what you like. I really want to take some fun classes senior year (with the exception of a few history classes, I haven’t) but I do not know if I should take Honors Calc OR AP Stats. I do not want to take both, but I’m afraid they would want to see the progression from precalc to calc, or does that matter? AP Stats is easy at my school, and I figure i need an AP Class This has been my schedule

freshman:
honors integrated math 2
honors euro history
honors american history
honors bio
honors french
honors eng
anthropology

sophmore:
honors integrated math 3
honors chem
honors eng
honors world affairs
honors french (audit)
keyboarding and forensics

junior:
honors precalc
honors eng
AP US
AP Bio
French 3
honors east asia history
honors russia history

senior:
AP Euro history
honors eng
honors senior french
concepts of physics
honors foreign policy
honors calc OR ap stats(which one would NYU WANT!!!)
photography
pottery
pyschology
(i thought i should take good courses that I actually like for once)

SHOULD I TAKE HONCALC OR AP STATS?? I FEEL LIKE I NEED MORE APs. I WANT TO GO TO GALLATIN SOOOO BAD

ps- ap calc is out of the question. it’s rediculous at my school

First off, remember that NYU isn’t going to spend that much time analyzing your schedule. They have 30,000+ applicants.

I honestly don’t think they’ll care a whole lot; those are both higher level classes and as long as you do well in them, I think you’ll be fine. It especially doesn’t matter if you don’t want to do something with math… Gallatin is a little more subjective about that kind of stuff. It’s ok with them if you take a slightly easier class. I would do what you want to do and what will allow you to do your best in all of your other classes. If it were me, I’d take AP Stats because it’s supposed to be a super easy AP and, like you said, it’s another AP course. But I can see it influencing whether or not you’re admitted much at all.

I agree with kendall12; they’re going to be looking more at the fact that you took four years of advanced math courses, not the courses themselves (provided that you do well in them). Go with the stats.

a piece of advice… write a really good essay for Gallatin. I think that’s what got me in.
