On the Digipen website they say that having a BA in game design covers the art portion and a BS in game design covers the programming portion. If a BS in game design is programming, then what is the difference between it and a BS in RTIS (real-time interactive simulation)?

The BS in Game Design has more art/game design classes, and less math/physics and programming/algorithms classes, and most of the GAM sequence is absent (ie, the game projects). Look at the course sequences to see the differences. But it looks like it would provide a solid foundation in programming. If you want to program/make video games, then the RTIS degree is the better choice. Also note that the Game Design degrees are very new; I think they’re just starting them this fall. So realize that there are going to be problems and “kinks” that need to be worked out.

Digipen is a great school, by the way. If you’re looking for a game school, it’s definitely the best one. I don’t go there currently, but if you have any questions, send me a PM.

Also, you may have found this already, but the DP LJ community is a good place to ask questions. [DigiPen Community](http://community.livejournal.com/digipen/)
