I want to be a game designer but I’m not an artist. So is there anyway I can still be come a game designer or do I have to find another career? Are there any d1 colleges out there with game designing as an major?

From what I’ve seen, you don’t become a game designer by getting a degree. You specialize in something else (programming, animation, etc.) until you’re promoted into it or build up enough $$$ to have a stake in a project. It’s a prestige position.

There are a few things you can major in (specialize in) to get into game designing - seeing how so many different components go into the actual creation and production of the game.

Programming. If you are good with computer languages and high level math then you can consider programming the games

Art. All games need all kinds of art ranging from concept art to 3D Modeling to little things like lighting and rendering.

Management/Production/all the technical stuff.

There are plenty of other little things you can get into but if you want to be part of the actual game creation you want to be an artist or a programmer.

Okay thanks to all of you
