<p>I am international students who has taken a gap year, and am now applying to US universitiets. Do think that I should mention the fact that I have taken a gap year in my college essay, and what I have done during it? </p>
<p>Have you grown and matured during that year? Really come to realize what it is you’d like to study and where? Have you worked out of necessity, taken care of a family member, or volunteered somewhere? If yes, and you can make a compelling essay as to how you have come out of that year more interesting and worthy of college x then by all means do so. If you have sat on the couch and played video games, then no. </p>
