Gary Coleman was only 42 when he died today of complications from a fall/head injury. He was a sad character- chronic health/kidney problems, taken advantage of by his parents, anger management problems. Opportunites gained and squandered. Really a shame. Condolences.

^^ yes very sad. Bad karma on that show, Different Strokes …all three child actors had problems after the show ended. Dana Plato committed suicide, as did her son a few years later.

Sad, sad, sad… Many child actors end up not doing well later in life.

Given his history, I would have been more surprised had he lived beyond 50. Yes, very, very sad.

It is very sad. I hope he is at peace now and beyond the troubles that started with his child stardom.

Yes-- all the child stars from “Different Strokes” had issues in their later years. And Dana Plato’s s’s suicide, just shortly before the anniversary of hers, was tragic.

A very sad ending to a sad life. My son said that at least they will stop making jokes about him.

This is so depressing to hear everyone saying he’s better off dead than alive. Wasn’t there something he could be happy about?

I heard his parents and agents misappropriate his earnings…in a time that there were not many protections for this gifted kids. What a shame…

“After a successful childhood acting career, Coleman struggled financially later in life. In 1993, he successfully sued his parents and business adviser over misappropriation of his assets”

New development in today’s news. It appears as if Coleman was divorced from Shannon Price in 2008, but she is the one who authorized the removal of life support.

Hmmmmm…

I wonder if they will change the character in “Avenue Q?” Perhaps that’s more of a tribute, and maybe he gave permission for it.

Edited to add the answer to my question:

Not the brightest bulb in the package, is she?

In unbelievably bad taste- there exist, and have been sold to the tabloid rags, deathbed photos of Gary Coleman and his ex-wife, what’s her name. Todd Bridges held nothing back in his comments on Entertainment Tonight. Apparently there are multiplle wills and letters and such floating around. What a mess.
