It covers graduate school only if your major falls under one of the specified categories… I forgot what they were, but they’re somewhere in this thread in an earlier page. Regardless, it is a great deal.

And if he has robots, that sucks, cause I’m robotFOOD.

Ok, so I made it to the second round of the GMS. But, I did not qualify for a Pell Grant. My mother makes about 58K. Am I completely out of the running now?

Everyone asks that, but unfortunately you are. That’s how they weed people out. I had a friend call GMS and they were very strict on the fact that you MUST qualify for the Pell Grant

roxycristina, I’m pretty sure you need Pell Grant eligibility to be a contender for the scholarship. However, you could double check with the GMSP office. Good luck to you nonetheless.

I’m getting all antzy waiting and waiting. Awards are going to be out much earlier this year than last year I believe?

idk if this is repetitive…but which component of financial aid package does GMS cover/not cover? loans? student contribution? parents contribution?
someone answer…please

From what I understand, GMS covers EVERYTHING but the EFC. So, if you have an EFC of 0, you’re getting a free ride. Otherwise, expect to fork over up to $3500 depending on your EFC (Pell Grant eligibility is <$3500 EFC)

technically…the GMS covers the self-help part of your budget meaning the work-study and student loan part…it doesn’t cover ur EFC regardless if it’s student contribution or parent contribution. but all in all…it’s basically a free ride since the rest of ur financial aid award that’s not self-help is usually grants and stuff. And YES it does cover for rent because your school’s cost of attendance includes that part in the budget for living expenses (food, gas, rent, etc)
