and keenya im pretty damn sure u got it. youre talking to a computer genius/harry potter reader/quiz bowl champion. im never wrong.

by the way im going to syracuse university

congrats to everyone who got it so far =)

how would i get gates to arrange the apartment thing instead of paying for dorming?

You’d have to get your school to work your apartment costs into your Total Cost of Attendance. Total Cost - any monies that the school has given you (excluding loans and work study, those will be converted to grants) = your Gates award. They will be payinig for my apartment next year just because the school formally acknowledged that an apartment is part of what it costs to go to school here.

is it true they pay for summer programs too??

is there any way that i could convince my school’s financial aid to increase the amount of money they estimate for an apartment? because the estimation they gave isn’t sufficient for an apartment in new york, so based on that, i’d still have to work to pay for it anyway…

or should i talk to gates instead?

Frog Prince, not much convincing is necessary nor helpful. Simply look at the Pratt website for something called budget or COA … in this case, it is called

06-07 Student Budget
Undergraduate (pdf)

http://www.pratt.edu/aid/budget_ug_02-10-06_.pdf

Find your category, and check what is listed under room and board. That is the amount you will receive for room and board. It does not get any simpler than that. It also seems that Pratt added the cost of a computer and software to its COA. This means that Gates will probably cover it since it is general requirement.
