<p>i just got a letter about two days ago congratualting me again and it actually told me how much money theyre going to give me. it said i should get the check on or before july 3 and that when i get it i should take it to the financial aid office along with the letter to get the money or whatever. it also gave me my login code and password. and they mentioned the conference in the fall and said theyd send more info soon.</p>
<p>what happens if i don’t send in the GMS sheet by the 26th? because i’ve sent the sheet to my college a long time ago, and they still haven’t faxed it to GMS. i call all the time, and they always say they’ll fax it, but they never do…it’s so frustrating.</p>
<p>idk what happens but u need to put your foot down. it has to be sent in by THIS FRIDAY. if not. call the gms people and tell them about your college. they should understand.</p>

<p>Congrats to all the new scholars! I have been a scholar for an year now, and if you guys dont have your fin aid package ready or your fin aid info sheets that gates ask you to fill out, dont worry call gates and tell them your situation. The worse that can happen is your check getting slightly delayed. If your school has a payment deadline for the fall term, call your school and tell them you have the Gates scholarship or take the letter to your fin aid office or fax it. That way they can post it on your bill and you wont get penalized for not paying at the deadline. They should know that scholarship checks take sometime to get processed, but as long it is posted on your bill they basically know that they will eventually receive it and again you dont get penalized if they have a payment deadline.</p>

<p>if you’ve mailed your gms sheet to your college, they should fill all of that stuff out such that you won’t have to worry about self-help/loans/unmet need.</p>

<p>I know the gates scholarship is like the ivy league of scholarships so they get a lot of applicants but it was weird that another girl at my school won as well. But only 8 people in Wisconsin got the scholarship so I still feel good :)</p>
