@CuteyBrown I submitted 4 documents in early March and those took almost 3 weeks to get verified. I submitted my last remaining document at the end of March and that only took 6 days to be verified.
I have yet to get any of my documents verified and I submitted all of them on March 7th.
In the ranking system, do those who have a higher ranking get their docuements verified first to validate their position, while those who aren’t part of the first 1,000 chosen on the finalist rank get their docuements verified as the potential scholars lose their spot due to other unmet qualifications regarding the pell grant and deadlines?
@TwilightSparkle That’s what I was wondering/suspecting too… I would love to hear other people’s thoughts on that assumption as well!
@TwilightSparkle @akozia Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct explanation. There are four GMSP partner organizations and all of them have different staffing levels, varying incoming workflows, and handle other scholarships besides the GMS. You are torturing yourselves with speculation about things that have no bearing on the outcome. Be patient. Everyone will get the joyful news or the disappointing news in about a week or so.
@TwilightSparkle you’re on to something. I understand the different partner organization thing but people from within the same organization (such as Hispanic) have had varying processing times for their documents. Some who submitted in early March are not verified yet while others (like me who submitted a document late last week, got it verified in a few days).
For example my friend and I are part of the same partner organization. (Hispanic) we had the same counselor submit the same forms on the same day and mine are verified while hers still are not. I had forgotten to send my acceptance letter so I sent that in late March/ early April and it was verified before April 8 while my friend who submitted everything early March still hasn’t gotten her documents verified.
My first document got verified in 2 days and all the others were verified in 21 days. The question does bring up some thinking but I really think it does not matter. The fact that they have a bunch of applicants to review and verified is a lot so it would make sense for some to have theirs still not verified after now.
Yeah, that’s exactly why I asked. I know a lot of other finalists who submitted their documents early on, and it took them up to 4 weeks to get their documents verified. But in my case, I submitted my documents in early March also, and it only took a matter of 3-4 days for them to be verified.
I have the same thoughts. So my friend and I had our counselors submit around the same data… Her things are verified and mine and pending. so I am kind of wondering the same things. I have a gut feeling its true.Only my SAR has been verified. I called a number from one of the letters and called and they said it would be verified within the next few hours (this is back on friday) and yet nothing… I mean it makes sense, but idk… I dont know if other threads have highlighted this.
Asian American finalist in Oregon checking in. Good luck to everyone here.
So when the eff do we find out if we got the coins ?
OMG!! @Ifeanyi1 I just noticed that I tagged the wrong person instead of you. I’m sorry!! LOL
@pleaseacceptme99 Snail mail notifications could be sent out as early as Friday, April 15th. Because they are not all sent from the same location, notices do not all arrive in mailboxes on the same day. Large mailing packet: joyful news. Regular-size envelope: disappointing news. All finalists get notified, regardless of the outcome. Follow-up emails usually arrive five days after notices are sent. This is done in case there are incorrect mailing addresses.
@CuteyBrown LOL, it’s fine!
This sounds really scary.
When they find people ineligible are they told during the form submissions process? Would the forms still say verified? Or will they not even know if they found them ineligible?
It took a month but I’ve finally been verified! Fingers crossed!!!
Asian finalist from Missouri
Yeah same here! All of my documents got verified today as well! Super excited/nervous for the upcoming days
