What do you mean???
@Iamsobusynow How do you know already? Have you already gotten the snail mail/email?
Oh snap. Unless he’s lying…
I applied for the Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship separately, and I found out that I didn’t get that. I thought it was the Gates until I checked and decided to call them. Luckily, they were two different scholarships!!!YES!!!Still hopes for me!Lol.
While we wait for our decisions to start trickling in,
Has anyone decided where they will be attending college ???
I’m initially planning on going to Albany State University on a tennis scholarship plus the financial aid and other grants. But of course, if I get this scholarship I’m most likely going to transfer my credits over to a more prestigious college/university. What about you? @pleaseacceptme99
@CuteyBrown I’m leaning towards UCLA but I’m still considering Stanford. Ucla isn’t offering me much financial aid though so getting this scholarship would help me commit to UCLA
OK guys. So I talked to my counselor today, and she told me that she had received a letter in the mail a while back, notifying that I was a GMS finalist. But I had never received an email in the mail. So do you guys think that maybe instead of sending to my house they sent it to the school? Anyone have any thoughts, or maybe are in similar circumstances?
Awesome!! It’s definitely great that you have those options open. I know those are both top, prestigious schools. Congratulations, @pleaseacceptme99 !! =D> :-bd
have all paperwork been verified? mine has not and I submitted on the 22 of march
@CuteyBrown Your original post says “I never received an email in the mail.” I’m assuming from the context that you meant to say you never received a written notice in the regular mail. If the written notice your counselor received was addressed to her and not you, then your written notice either went to the wrong address or got lost in the mail completely (possible but very unlikely). You should check with your GMSP partner organization to make sure they have your correct mailing address.
@northernAZ I meant to say I never received the written notice in the mail. So does GMSP send written notices to both the finalist and the school/counselor or do you think the may have mistakenly sent it to my school instead of my mailing address?
@CuteyBrown They would have mailed it to whatever address you listed on your application. As I said, the clue would be to whom the letter your counselor received was addressed. I doubt that your counselor would open a piece of mail addressed to you, but you can ask her. Check your Gates student account and see what you listed for your mailing address.
Gonna go buy one of those big mailboxes so the package will fit.
Positive thoughts.
@northernAZ T checked my primary and secondary mail address and they are both listed as my correct mailing address and permanent home address. I guess I’ll ask my counselor tomorrow. I just wasn’t sure if I should expect “the package” to be sent to my school or one of my listed addresses.
@pleaseacceptme99 LOL. I love your optimism!
Hopefully we’ll all get good news.
Probably the silliest question asked on here, but does Gates pay the commitment deposit?
@ifizzle321, I actually want to ask how Gates work. Lol. Like, are we going to have any extra money for personal expense? Like towel, and stuff like that.
I want to know whether the Gates scholarship is applied before or after outside scholarships.
It makes more sense that it would be applied after.
