Yeah ik. I dont think its a good sign, but i dont know what to say.
I am a part of UNCF, but I know somebody who is also apart of UNCF and also lives in Georgia, like I do, who received an award letter today. What does that mean?
@exl028 Keep up the hope! By the way, I saw that you were accepted to several Ivy League colleges. Congratulations! Personally, I would recommend Brown PLME because it is guaranteed medical school acceptance and Brown University is a respected institution. I bet you received a lot in financial aid from the schools you were accepted to, so don’t worry too much about GMS.
@Ifeanyi1 Thanks! Yeah, the financial aid is pretty good, but it would be a relief to not have to worry about it. Good luck to you! Have you heard back?
I don’t want to speculate because this is my first time going through the process, but from what I read, scholars’ letters are mailed through priority mail while students that are not selected receive their letters through regular mail. I read a thread from a previous year in which a student that was not selected received his/her letter more than a week after other students.
@exl028 You’re welcome! Yes, I heard back today. I am excited to be a scholar! UNCF is headquartered in Virginia and I live in Maryland, so I receive application decision pretty quickly. Again, never give up hope! This is the second scholarship I have received from the 35+ I have applied to. I have also received many rejection letters.
I would not be surprised. But I saw that even those not selected were sent through priority but not sure.
I GOT IT !!!
Sleeping with my mailbox must have helped.
Hispanic scholar from Southern California (east Los Angeles area)
@exl028 Oh, ok! I guess they are changing things this year.
@pleaseacceptme99 Congratulations!
So if we don’t get our letters in the next one or two days does that mean that we probably didn’t get it? (I’m a Hispanic scholar on the West Coast, so I’m relatively close to HSF).
I really do hope that those of us who didn’t receive a letter today, do receive one this week
Houston has not had anyone who received a letter yet. Maybe because of the rain, but hopefully there will be good news tomorrow for us :)!!!
An Asian-American finalist from NYC area received a “not-selected” letter today that was first-class mail. When your snail mail arrives has nothing to do with whether you got selected or not. Many “non-selects” got their disappointing news today and many Scholars got their joyful news today. Do not make assumptions about your status. Wait for the snail mail to arrive.
Didn’t get it
@Iamsobusynow I am so sorry to hear that. Good luck with your other scholarships.
Sad news for me, but wish you all luck! Congrats to the scholars!
Didn’t get any mail for me today ughguhguhguhguhghguh, the anxiety is so real! My condolences to those who didn’t receive the award & congrats to those who have!
Plus, I am like 30 mins away from the hsf home office!!
I really really really hope I get a letter tomorrow morning because I leave tomorrow night for Swatlight/Swatstruck at Swarthmore and I will be too anxious to enjoy the visit if I don’t know!!!
