<p>when you call and press 2 (nominations) does it say that a decision was mailed to you today and that you should receive it in less than a week, and if you dont, to call asap and speak with a gates representative?</p>
<p>i called and it said my ssn was not valid…</p>
<p>hi, i’m new, i attend douglass high in atlanta, Ga and a previous scholar from my school, whom I didnt even know, contacted me saying that I was on a list that was posted. He used his gates password to log in to the gms site and he said that it was there with my post-secondary school, and City of residence, both things he wouldn’t just know since I dont know him since this is my first year at the school. Its prolly 4real cause since it had the correct school from my acceptance letter then the list was made after we were selected as finalists, plus not everyone from my school that were finalists was on the list.</p>

<p>nevermind ereybody, he says that wen he tried to log in it said that the site is temporarily down n he said it did this last year, n that since they were mailed out yesturday u’ll prolly find out b4 the site is fixed. srry 4 gettin ya’ll hopes up, but he told like 4 of our gates finalists at our school that we were on it, &&& i’m soooooooo nervous to see if he was 4real. <p>The gmsp site is working fine, and there is no such list this early in the process. The list was not posted till almost mid July last year. I was just on it and sorry if someone has mislead you.</p>

<p>When i got my finalist letter i got it on march 12 n it was post marked march 9 n im n ohio so idk maybe monday or so</p>

<p>My name is Imani and I’ve been following this forum ever since I was named a finalist in March. I live in Georgia and I’m African American. This morning I received my GMS package. It came in a UPS Express box around 9:30 am. I was on my way to work (I do work study at my high school.)</p>
<p>Inside the box is a large white envelope with your name on a sticker and the words “rigor, relevance, relationships, and responsibility” in block letters with some funky graphic design. </p>
<p>I’ll just sum up the letter so you all know what to expect:</p>

<p>Congratulations! We are very pleased to inform you of your selection as a Gates Millennium Scholar. This year, the Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS) attracted over 20,500 applicants. It is a distinct honor for you to be recognized as one of the 1,000 Gates Millennium Scholars for the GMS Class of 2009, the program’s 10th anniversary class. We commend you on our strong leadership, community service and academic achievements that have distinguished you as a Leader for America’s Future ™.</p>
<p>. . . . The rest is just basic info about the program including leadership conference details and more paperwork for us to submit. There is also a really cool certificate, some information papers, and a booklet called “Understanding the GMS Awarding Process: A Resource Guide For Gates Millennium Scholars.”
I havent read through any of it but I thought Id share some quick details.</p>
<p>This award is such a blessing and I with you all the best of luck in the coming weeks. I hope to see you at the conference!!! :)</p>
