Gates Millennium Scholarship?

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the Gates Millennium Scholarship would pay for medical school. It says it will cover doctorate degrees in designated fields and I was wondering if that included medicine. If it does not, I was wondering would there be any sense in applying because my family makes less than 20k per year and I am certain that my school will offer a substantial package (RICE, Emory and Vandy, all have programs to cover the cost of education if your family makes less than 60k-50k a year so I fall into that bracket). I mean are there any other perks to it because I would not want to waste time filling it out if I didnt need it or take away from another deserving person.

Thank you!!

does anyone know, I’d really like to know today and I cant find out on their website not anywhere else.

GMS does not pay for medical school.

Any loans you are given in your school package are paid by the scholarship fund.

My D is a Gates scholar. She attends a top LAC that has no loans, only grants. Gates does however cover her work study, they give her the federal allowable amount each semester. Not having to work allows her more time for studying, so yes it is worth it. She also got a VERY nice computer and printer paid for also.
