Gateway to Prep - In Progress Recommendation status

Hi, my daughter just checked in to remind a recommender about the approaching 1/15 due date. The checklist on Gateway to Prep showed “in progress”, so she just thought they needed to complete. She was pretty early in the fall asking this person if they would do a rec and it has been in progress for a bit.

The recommender said they just did a slew of others over break and didn’t have hers. Since they confirmed they didn’t recall doing the form so there wasn’t any data in the form, she canceled the request and sent it again.

Has anyone had this issue and can offer guidance on things she can check. There is one other recommender “in progress” as well. Though other recommenders have submitted fine. Thank you

I believe that the “in progress” on Gateway simply means, the recommender checked the request sent to them via email.

Once you put their email in, the status will show as “request sent”.
Once they check that email from Gateway and log into the platform to access the form, the status will show “in progress”.

Because we had one teacher’s status showed as “in progress”, but she updated us along the way that she already started answering a couple questions and feedback, but she would like to go over it one more time before submitting it.

For the other teacher, we only saw “request sent” for almost a month, but she confirmed with us that she got the email but didn’t access the platform yet (at that time).

The “In progress”, only means that at least the recommender acknowledge the request sent by Gateway and access the form (at least once), but doesn’t really tell how far along in the process he/she is.

Thanks, that’s helpful! In this case, the recommender didn’t recall ever getting/seeing the first request, but honestly it could have been that it was so early on, before others came in. We canceled it last night, and sent a new request, and confirmed they got the new request. And they already submitted the form this morning. Hopefully not too rushed, but maybe they had already thought of what they’d put down :slight_smile: :grinning:. fingers crossed!

Thanks @RockPopMom for the status details. That is helpful. I also noticed that there is a stage called “Acknowledged”, which I am guessing that they opened the email, but haven’t started yet. So it goes “Request Sent”, “Acknowledged”, “In Progress”, “Submitted”.
