<p>^One of many: the 401(k) contribution would be on your W2 but not on your tax returns.</p>
<p>Believe it or not…some folks put different things on their tax returns than what is on their w-2. The college just wants to be sure that what you enters on your w-2 is what is on your return.</p>
<p>And as noted…there are some things that are not on your tax return…but would be in your w-2.</p>
