I can think of two real potential problems with this.

One would be if this was a completely democratic process, and more mean/insensitive students deliberately voted for him as a Queen in an attempt to make fun of his sexual orientation. The Queen, however, put his own name under the category, which means he’s obviously very ok with the whole thing and wanted it, so that issue goes away very quickly.

The second: Do they make the Prom King and Queen dance? Because it might be kind of awkward if a heterosexual male won for King… I’m not really sure how this works, though; my high school doesn’t do the whole Prom King and Queen thing. Probably because there are no females in my school.

^ Your second point is actually a valid one. I don’t know of any schools though that still make the prom king and queen dance with each other. I don’t think they would make them dance with each other though, unless they wanted to of course lol.

I was wondering if they he had to dance with the King, but I guess so
“Other students weren’t as happy, and suggested many voted for Garcia just to see the spectacle of two boys dancing together at the prom.”

If you read the article you can see that it is not in malicious spirit based on his responses. He is just one of those fabulous gays that can pull it off, don’t be jealous yo.

tons of hopeful girls just got beten by a GUY, what’s that gonna do to their self-esteem?
he is MALE. I’m sure he could have won king. but a queen is female. sexual orientation does not define gender. If I were lesbian, i would not be able to run for prom king, nor would i want to be labeled as male.

Hey just a thought that came to my mind… Don’t you feel bad for the guy that won Prom King? I don’t mean to come across homophobic or anything because I certinly am not, but assuming the king was heterosexual, I would think that he would be obliged to having a gay male as his “queen”. Also, assuming they announced the King and Queen back to back, the guy that won king was probably mad that he won after finding out who the queen was.

I really doubt anyone would take being Prom King that seriously. You get the spotlight for a minute or two, perhaps an extra picture in the year book.

Usually, the king presents the queen with flowers, kisses her cheek and they have the first dance so that wouldn’t work. The gay guy, still being a guy, should have run for king.
