Gen Eds vs Major PreReqs

70 units transfer toward your bachelors degree. The units are different than your classes when you go over 70. All the classes you took toward you major still apply toward your major and separate from that, 70 units from wherever transfer as undergrad units.

Hypothetical example situation: You go to UC and want to triple major in Engineering, English, and Oceanography. Transferring 70 units of specific classes could not possibly cover the lower division requirements for all three majors. The system notes completion of all lower division courses in all three majors, similar to a check mark indicating you have taken the class. The 70 units is more of a pool of undergrad credits that show you’ve done the work. I quote what has been quoted before but now hopefully with more clarity “Courses in excess of 70 semester (105 quarter) units will not receive unit credit but will receive subject credit and may be used to satisfy UC’s subject requirements.”
