For airport chain restaurants, we love Vino Volo.

Perhaps that explains why airport security and immigration / customs checkpoints in Canada airports tend to be friendlier experiences?

Philly - so rough. I’m in awe at other airports when I’m not being yelled at, lol

That’s been our experience. Airports in Japan even nicer

I buy the same salad EVERY TIME I am at PHX, because I love it so much. It’s the Stetson Chopped Salad (smoked salmon choice) at Cowboy Ciao’s.

THE STETSON CHOPPED
Israeli pearl couscous, diced roma tomato, baby arugula, air dried
sweet corn, trail mix and your choice of smoked salmon, herb
chicken or avocado, served with buttermilk pesto dressing 16.99

Yes, Japanese airports have exceptional customer service! They have a lot of shopping & food too!

My list of most unfriendly immigration officials is St. Petersburg, Russia and Lisbon, Portugal. Lots and lots of screaming at passengers.

Oh, the shopping

In Nashville the whole airport smells like BBQ.

When returning to Denver on Monday night (not known as the friendliest airport but still the TSA agents are a whole lot nicer than Houston), the restaurants near baggage claim were suppose to be closed but the Nuggets game was tied, nuggets ahead, tied, Lakers ahead
We were following the last 3 minutes (which takes 20 to play) while on the train and just passing the ‘closed’ bar - with the doors cracked open and the metal gates not pulled shut - with the big TV still on and all the fans standing at the windows. Caught the last basket and the Nuggets win on the TV. The workers had ‘slow cleaned’ for probably 30 minutes, just to be nice.

I fly out of Philly every so often.

But the rudest experience was at O’Hare, unbelievable! Screaming and slamming of the bins. People pushing past us to get :30 ahead of us in line.

We only went through TSA coming off a transatlantic flight. Customs wasn’t much better.

The Delta terminal at DTW is pretty nice.

To get to their 2 hour delayed flight?

Or was it an international to domestic connection where the inbound was late so that many people needed the extra 30 seconds to make their connection?

International to domestic. No idea why people were pushing in front of us. There was a long line at TSA checkpoint.

It was just obnoxious on their part.

Re airport food - when they announced the restaurants for the future new Terminal 1 at SAN, I told husband they should offer a pass for locals to eat there. We live 10 minutes away.

SAN is getting a very nice makeover. It looks like a few trips there are in my near future

The most pleasant airports in our state are Paine Field and Bellingham. Not exactly foodie destinations, but they are small, compact, and have friendly TSA folks.

Boston Logan just expanded its international terminal. Adding more gates is nice, but not seeing any great food options as of yet. Another Legal Sea Foods, meh.

Not sure where to put this, but is anyone else more than a bit disturbed that 2 of the Boeing whistleblowers have suddenly died!?!? :exploding_head:

Funny story about security at DTW.

We got off a transatlantic flight in Detroit. Went through customs where there were no lines and were at baggage claim.

A security guard came up to us and asked us where we were in route to. Said this was our final destination and told him the town we live in.

Just a minute, he gets out his phone. Husband and I are panicking a bit, what did we do?

Guard brings up his photos and shows us the pictures of all the snow they got at his cabin. Feet of snow, it was near our home.

And that is the most Michigan story I can think of!

We’ll be there next month. Flying JetBlue Mint to London.

Probably hang out at the Chase lounge for a few hours. Maybe they’ll have some decent snacks.

More fun in San Diego:
