I am an undergraduate Economics Major/Math Minor. I want to pursue graduate school after my bachelor’s of science degree but I am very concerned about the general education requirements that my college requires. My work in economics and math is excellent but I have had trouble with required courses such as French Language, Art History, and Acting. So my major GPA is great but my cumulative GPA reflects all the classes i’ve taken including the required ones that I have no interest in and have no influence on my understanding of economics. I am very stressed out even though i’m years away from applying to phD programs because i’m afraid that my poor performance in the arts will destroy my dream of having a doctorate in economics. I want to know if my terrible french speaking skills and hatred of art history will be taken into consideration should I apply for admission to the economics phD program?
