General Information for Student Pining for NCF.

<p>I’ve been dreaming about this school since I first heard of it. I just visited the NCF campus on Monday, and it was everything I could dream of and more.
It’s weird, I was reading on other boards what people have to say about New College, and their responses are much the same that I had.</p>

<p>People saying how they have fallen literally in love with the place, how there’s something … magical about the place, how you can just feel the vibe and somehow instinctively know you belong. What a place! All these emotions came flowing just by walking on the campus for a few hours. </p>

<p>I plan on applying for Spring of 2009
I am not an outstanding student by any means.</p>

<p>My resume is as follows:
Weighted: 3.5 GPA [as of now, by the end of this school year it will most likely be 3.6]
SAT/ACT: Haven’t taken it yet. [any suggestions on what score you think I will need to get acceptance?]</p>

<p>I come from a Private Roman Catholic College Preparatory school in Florida.</p>

<p>What are my chances? Any advice?
Any Information whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. </p>

<p>I want acceptance into this school more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life before. Please help me in any way you can.</p>

<p>Well you’re in-state, which makes NCF a great option for you (academically and financially :)). I think what you should focus on the most is bringing up your GPA. Hopefully keeping NCF in mind as a goal will give you some extra motivation to bring in outstanding grades. I’m sure that if you communicate this interest to the college (perhaps via an interview?) it could also help your application. </p>

<p>Have you decided on a major yet?</p>

<p>Economics and Film.
Moreso Economics considering that Film isn’t an official major at NCF.</p>

<p>That’s cool. :slight_smile: Are you taking a half-gap year, since you’re applying for a Spring semester?</p>

<p>I think you should be accepted–my GPA and ECs were far worse than yours, and I was. Make sure to get interviewed. You should be aiming for 27-30 for the ACT. I got a 30 and was accepted. I’m not sure about the SAT.</p>

<p>To be a shoe-in, you would need to get at least a 700 Verbal, 600 Math. As a student at NCF who has had plenty of discussions with the admissions officers, NCF has a very holistic process. Make sure you break 1200 combined on the Verbal and Math sections, and write a strong essay that shows knowledge and passion. </p>

<p>New College is still a gem in that its transparent admissions standards are not commensurate with the excellence of the institution. Most schools of New College quality are crazily selective and no series of numbers will guarantee a spot. Keep the GPA high and you should have a good shot.</p>
