As a first-year student, I’m beginning to find myself facing the very questions that previous freshmans have confronted in the past. Here are the following:

After fall term ends, how does one exactly go about choosing their classes? Would the student make an appointment with his adviser, and then choose the following classes for spring term, or?

Can one store their luggage in storage (which is to be his/her future dorm) during the hiatus between fall and spring term?

Usually, there’s a rough guide of your required track of courses for their major. One can follow the track and decide their load of courses for each semester. One can also discuss their course load and difficulties with their advisors. Somewhere between November and December, there’s advance registration for every student. They can sign up for their classes on ISIS course registration.

If one is admitted for the fall semester, they can store their luggage in their dorms, but they won’t see it until dorms are re-opened. But, if one is admitted for the spring semester, I’m not entirely sure. Just wait until dorms are re-opened, then move in.

Yup, pretty much that exactly. Usually the college will send out an email with registration instructions around October when the course listings for spring are released and you will have a hold on your account preventing you from registering until you meet with your advisor. But scheduling advising appointments vary from college to college, as with some you can just waltz in whenever, others have block advising, and some you have to make an appointment in advance.

technol, you’re an engineer. I know that, because only engineers have such good advising. Every other college, advising is a luxury, not a requirement. (I’ve missed my registration date like 3 semesters cause of that damn engineering hold :D)

In answer to your question, the degree audit and 8 (or more) semester plan is your best friend in selecting classes, there you can see your actual requirements, and select classes accordingly. The degree audit is on ISIS, and it will have a link to your semester plan. As you complete classes, they check off on your degree audit.

I left stuff in my dorm between fall and spring.
