General question - Masters Umass

Alright so here is my situation…

I sent my application for UMass on february first and I had to include my GMAT score. I did the GMAT the first time on january 27th and well i majorly screwed and I told the school and asked them if they could wait for me to pass the GMAT again a month later and they said yes.

Last week, I received an email from an executive assistant asking me if they were still going to receive my new grades in march. So this morning I did the exam again and for the record is scored in the 81th percentile… much better than the first time

My questions are would the school have told me if it was useless for me to do the gmat? (I mean they had everything else gpa letters everything) (like even if I score a 760 I still wouldn’t get in)

I had that feeling that they were waiting for the GMAT because it would have been the deciding factor… am I wrong?

And finally do you think my GMAT can compensate for my GPA?

Ah and I would like to add I just e-mailed that same executive assistant to tell him my scores and he said He will now review your file again.

I know I cant do anything about it but you know id still like to know what other people think?

Would they have told me if my GMAT score wouldnt have change anything whether it’d be a 760 or a 590…
