Do you need a high GPA to go here? It’s on of my favorite Ivy schools. What’s the average GPA?

Yes, you need a high GPA.

If you’re speaking high school GPA, if you are not a URM, recruited athlete, or legacy, I’d say 99% need at least top 5%, if not top 1-2%.

Using my high school’s naviance I can estimate that 4/10 acceptances from my high school in the past few years were in the top 10% of their class, but not top 5%. I excluded outlying data points for recruited athletes, known legacies, and my school doesn’t have many URMs, so I didn’t account for those. My point is, I highly doubt that 99% of non-hooked applicants have to be in the top 5% of their class. If you have any statistics to back that statement up, feel free to point me to them.

I believe you are correct. I looked on the Common Data Set, and only 96% were in the top 10% when accepted.

However, you also need to consider race. If you are Asian-American, I would definitely be in the top 10% if not 5% to give yourself a fighting chance in admissions.

Youch~! Yeah, thanks guys. It looks like I’m not going here (like I had a chance right? lol) I think I’m in the top 20% in my school O.O Thanks for the responses.

This is probably true too. Also, top 10% at one school can be as impressive as top 5% at another, so a lot of it depends on your school.
