1 is the campus crowded?
2 what is the campus atmosphere
3 since I plan to major in psychology and marketing, I am wondering whether the workload is overwhelmingly big.
4 Is it easy to get a good grade in psychology?
5 are professors accessibe?
6 …hmm,I can not think of anything more

No, the campus itself is not crowded. The intro classes, however, can be crowded because they’re often composed of a couple hundred or more students. The U of I campus is quite large.

It’s kind of difficult to give an overall description of the campus atmosphere. In general, U of I is a pretty laid back and fairly liberal campus. For the most part, students are not cutthroat competitive when it comes to academics. And socially, there are a lot of people who like to party and go to the bars. If you really want to get a feel for the campus atmosphere, you should try to visit U of I.

The workload for psychology and marketing wouldn’t be too bad, especially if you come in with a decent amount of AP credits. If you only need to take 5 courses a semester, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble.

Psychology classes generally aren’t too rigorous. Some pysch classes require a good amount of reading and effort, but you won’t be dealing with confusing abstract topics like in mathematics or physics.

Yeah, professors are usually accessible if you make the effort to go see them during their office hours. You might encounter some profs who aren’t very sociable, but you’ll also find many profs who are more than glad to meet and talk with their students.

One more question, given that the super large student body on campus, is that easy to secure an accommodation ? And how much does it typically cost ?

Well, pretty much all freshman live in the university residence halls or private certified housing their first year. If/When you decide to live in an apartment, there is a large selection of apartments that are fairly close to the campus, especially the engineering quad. I’m afraid I can’t really give a typcial cost for apartment living because it varies so much depending on how many roomates you have, the location, the apartment amenities, utilities, etc. At the very least, you’ll probably be paying $400+ a month not including utilities. I think on average, you’ll be paying around $400-$600 a month if you’re living with roomates and $600+ if you live alone. Again, those figures aren’t including utilities.

Freshman are required to stay in the dorms or Private Certified Housing. You should try to apply for housing as soon as possbile after being admitted because the later you apply, the more unlikely you will get first choice. I do not know where you get that $12,000 for room and board for an international; internationals pay the same price as anyone else and annual room and board in a dorm will be about $7200 this upcoming year for a double room and for usual kind of meal plan. If you are saying it costs an international $12,000 for everything (tuition, room & board, books, travel), then you are greatly underestimating because that figure is more in the $30,000 a year range.
