General Questions (UCI/UCD)

Major: International Studies (UCI) / International Relations (UCD)
Transfer Student from Foothill College

Questions:

 1. For UCI / UCD it is required as told by ASSIST that we need to complete a study abroad prior to graduation. I was wondering, if I’m applying for the Fall 2012 term, if it’s possible to lets say do a study abroad during the summer BEFORE my first term.

I filed a TAG for UCD and it’s not coming back until November 15th and on (ish). The problem is I had to stay under a unit limit since I spent my first quarter at Cal Poly SLO. Since I had a 120.00 quarter unit limit, I couldn’t take all the classes that UCI listed on ASSIST. Although UCI ASSIST said that it is not mandatory to complete all the transfer classes prior to first term, I still want the best chances in being admitted. So my question is: is there a way that the UCD TAG can respond back to me quicker so that, if I get denied TAG, I can put on the other classes (that UCI wants) on the UC application before I turn it in? I want to turn in my APP as fast as possible because I heard that UC admission comes on a first come first serve basis so that my chances would be lower if I turned in my app. on November 30 as opposed to November 1.

I did my personal statement last year because I tried filing for transfer last year too. Would it be detrimental to my application if I used the same transfer Personal Statements as I used last year?

If I turn in my application Nov. 1 would I have better chances of being admitted and/or be given an admission decision quicker to the colleges that I applied to rather than if I sent my application in Nov. 30? Or is everything even?

Don’t worry about how early/late you submit your app; UC’s don’t do first come, first served.

Thanks CalGal36. I called the UCD office of admissions to verify this also. I think questions 1 and 4 are resolved. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think my best bet will be to wait until I get my TAG back during mid-late november then edit my application accordingly if I don’t get the TAG, if I do get the TAG – I will submit my application as is.

Now, Can someone answer the question #2 and #3? :)

COOL for #2 I’m going to wait until I get my TAG to turn in my UC Application because on the application I have to state if I was TAG approved or not. SO #2 is answered, for #3 I’m going to brush up on my statements but I feel that they are strong statements (IF ANYONE CAN READ THEM ^_^) I have a new question as well

Can I study abroad prior to my first quarter at the 4-year university.
