general questions

I know i need not worry about this, but on the college board website, it is stated that 50% are between 770-800 on math–or something like that. However, what is the range for ACT math. If there is no general range, would my scores be applicable to this college: 36 science 35 math( composite 35.)I just dont know what a 35 would convert to on the SAT scale.

This brings me to my next ?
do admission officers convert one’s ACT score in terms of a SAT scale??

I don’t know about first question, but I’m 99.99999% sure they do not convert your ACT score to SAT

And really truly, for Caltech, anything easily quantifiable, other than a high AIME or USAMO score, is pretty much overrated. Having A’s, APs, 4.0, SAT’s, w/e…that’s normal. It’ll stop you from being rejected on the spot. But you have to show passion for something.

No official conversion takes place… but a good way to see whether your ACT score fits in the range is to look at the conversion tables provided by the people who do the ACT. You can also interpret ties and close calls in your favor. In particular, 35 math is just fine.

thanks. and i do have a 4.0., 35 ACT, all 5 APs…which is “normal” as you said. But i have also published an academic article at PubMed along with research…so will that help if I haven’t really recieved a high score on AIME?

Hmmm… scratches chin. Having a publication is probably better than a high AIME score. Reeeelax :-)
