General: Self-studying when the school offers a parallel course

I heard colleges don’t like it when we do the above…

I’m planning to self-study AP Psych, BUT my school offers it.

But I’m not that “lazy” kind, I just want to

1) Get the easy AP out of the way so I can make space for the other AP Social sciences
2) Assume that colleges aren’t going to view an easy course like AP psych high anyways, and do the above

But…do you think I’m making the right decision?

Thanks =)

I think that you are. Colleges shouldn’t view that negatively. I mean, let’s say you wanted to take AP Psych, but couldn’t because of schedule conflicts. You still want to take the exam and earn college credit, so you self-study, rather than take the class you physically couldn’t take.

In fact, I think colleges can view this positively (although if you’re a senior, they probably won’t notice that you’ve self-studied).
