geneseo chance please

Not sure if it is worth applying to Geneseo Early Decision…
-go to top private high school in long island which already has a great reputation
for education; have scholarship for this private school; first generation college student

  • numerous EC’s, particularly involved in a lot fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis, life threatening disease my brother has, a lot of service
    -ACT:28
    -SAT M: 570
    -SAT CR: 680
    -SAT W:670
    -GPA: 3.68 UW
  • all honors classes (no APs offered), take latin as language(perceived as difficult and scholarly)
–EC’s include Latin and Greek club
I know the scores aren’t ideal; I’m either taking the SAT again or taking SAT II’s which will reflect that I am strong in english but not math and I don’t plan to pursue anything math related (may take ACT again as well) Very interested in school, visited, spoke to reps at many college fairs, and have emailed admissions reps from the school. If not accepted, would ED help for Spring Admit? Appreciate any answers… ASAP.

Your scores are a little on the low side but not at the point where it’s completely unlikely you’d get in. If it’s DEFINITELY your first choice, I would probably go for ED. One of the major drawbacks of ED is that you don’t know what kind of financial aid package you’ll be getting, and I don’t know your situation but even with no aid Geneseo is very reasonable compared to the large majority of other schools. Good luck!

agree with rebeccar, if it is your first choice, go for the ED. That will help negate the lower scores.
