Genome Center?

Hi, my DD is interested in Wash U, do undergrads get to work at the Genome Center? She is interested in Molecular Bio and Genetics.

The medical campus has a lot of research opportunities available for undergrads, and I’m assuming that holds true for the genomic center. You’ll find these opportunities both on campus and at the medical school. Your DD got to find it for herself though and apply for these lab positions.

I’d imagine so. The majority of pre-meds (and other science majors) do research… whether it’s in the medical school or in one of the departments on the undergrad campus - like in biology, chemistry, etc. I’ve never known someone here who hasn’t been able to do research in a lab or with a professor in a field they are interested in.

There is an undergraduate research office staffed with advisors that helps students obtain research opportunities on campus. Given how encouraged undergraduate research is in all areas of campus, I would be surprised if the Genome Center would except from undergrads.

For more tangible information, I’d imagine you can call or Email either the undergrad research office or the genome center itself.
