Geo. Wash. Students Attacked - Several Incidents

Very recently in separate incidents, several GWU students were attacked on campus. Sadly in one incident, the address listed by three alleged assailants in the Metropolitan Police Dept. arrest book was an all-male residence hall at Howard University. How sad for both great institutions.

The article can be read at:

http://media.www.gwhatchet.com/media/storage/paper332/news/2007/03/08/News/Three.Young.Men.Attack.Two.Freshmen.Police.Say-2764759.shtml?mkey=2326332

You know, that almost sounds like some kind of gang initiation type thing. I may be reading more into it, but, frequently you read of things like that in the paper here, when there is a group of guys who do the attacking, it is often a gang thing, pure robbery is usually done alone.

Really weird (and terribly sad) if it turns out the guys were college kids - what a way to ruin your future :(

Let’s not leap to conclusions about Howard University. Thugs and other anti-social types are usually bright enough to give the police false addresses etc. when they are arrested.

Hi, LakeWashington -

No leaping to conclusions here…just paraphrasing the article. I’m a former DC resident, graduate of GWU, who knows lots of age mates’ children who attend Howard. That’s why I said, it would be sad for “both great institutions.”

Item was posted as fyi because a number of posters lately have sought safety-related info. The truth will be known in time, but attendance decisions are being made now.

Appreciate your post.

OB

True enough. And applicants and their parents should press colleges on the safety/security issue.
