Currently attending Memorial university in NL Canada, started out doing a biology degree but that didn’t pan out as I hoped and job opportunities are lacking in bio. I did well in biology(80) and english(70) but bombed chemistry and failed math by 2 marks…(I’m not bad at math, the teacher was hard to understand and not very good all around, I wanted to write a supplementary but there is such little info and support so I missed the deadline). I didn’t do chemistry in HS and it really backfired on me as the introductory course is really not very introductory and moves FAST, I gave up going and failed it.
That said, I’ve started looking at 2 options: Marine environmental technology at Marine institute or Geography. I refuse to repeat math/chem at MUN(I would have to do them at Marine but marine is a much better learning environment and a bit more introductory). This kind of rules out Geography as a science, however as an arts you do the exact same Geo courses as they have no math/physics/chem pre req and are still eligible for GIS program after completing the major.

The requirements for Geography are: http://www.mun.ca/regoff/calendar/sectionNo=ARTS-1591#ARTS-1599
The Bachelor arts req are: http://www.mun.ca/regoff/calendar/sectionNo=ARTS-0109
The Bachelor science req are: http://www.mun.ca/regoff/calendar/sectionNo=SCI-0157

Since the program is the exact same minus math/sciences would it really make any difference? Is the “of science” really that important for employment? Doing a Bachelor of arts would allow me to do a German course as a second language is required and I plan on moving to Germany/europe. It would also allow me to minor in Philosophy which I enjoy as a course but would not do as a single program.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions!
