I’m from Brookline, MA, so I’m used to geographic selectivity working against me (i.e. National Merit cutoff, Ivy League admissions, etc.) What about colleges on the West Coast? Will the fact that I’m from the East Coast help my application to Stanford, Pomona, or Reed at all? Are there any really good colleges in other parts of the country where Massachusettsers are underrepresented?

It probably won’t hurt, especially if a lot of people aren’t also applying from your school this year. Have you thought about oberlin or macalester?
