A story told at law schools’ Constitutional Law courses is that Justice William Rehnquist thoroughly enjoyed reading the ‘7 Dirty Words’ into the Supreme Court record and kept repeating them for the benefit of his fellow justices.

HBO will have a 3 day (night) retrospective of George’s best work (going back to 1977 to his most recent work this year) beginning tomorrow (Wednesday). Here’s the schedule…

I’ve seen George Carlin in person twice - hard to stay in my seat we were laughing so hard.

ek - enjoyed your link. I don’t think I’d heard that one before. Makes a lot of sense (“If you vote you have no right to complain” haha!).

Altho’ I don’t think I’m quite as immune to the foul language as I used to be.

Now, in light of some of Carlin’s “radical” ideas, I was surprized to read these sentiments of his:

bz2010: Sorry…from George Carlin’s own website…he is not the writer of Bad American you have above.

Thanks for posting this, "just"aMom. I was surprised that none of the obituaries I read referred to the Bad American piece, which unfortunately dogged Carlin for some time. It sounds nothing like him, so I don’t know where the mis-attribution came from. It surely isn’t George!

It sounds more like Ted Nugent

That’s right! I thought I had heard something about it being bogus but then when I researched it, the quote came up. That’s why I mentioned being surprized about it.

Shoulda checked snopes! Sorry.

Shoot - I hope my error doesn’t follow me to the political threads where I ardently protect my credibility! Blame it on the emotion of GC’s passing.

Again, a thousand apologies.

- Wonder how it got attributed to him in the first place.

Just on the Internet for a second this week, since we’re on vacation, nearby H’s aunt and uncle, who along with my MIL, grew up with Carlin in Morningside Heights. My MIL, shortly before she died, brought H and I to a Carlin show and we got to meet him–very gracious, and you could see how fond of MIL he was (she battled cancer around same time, I believe, as his first wife, and they wrote back and forth a lot.)

MIL always said that the only faster roller skater than her in the neighbrohood was “Little Georgie Carlin.”

Funny, smart guy. Will definitely be missed.

Anybody who has an XM radio account channel 150 is playing him all day. Unfortunately, it is probably too raunchy for workplace listening…
