George Carlin won't be bleeped

Sad to say Mr Carlin recently died of heart problems in LA.

OMG. This is the first I’d heard that he died today – wikipedia is confirming but I can’t find any other confirmation, can someone cite another source?

I am overwhelmed with sadness. I may just have to step outside and recite the Seven Dirty Words in his honor.

EDIT: Confirmed.

In Baltimore, it’s 6:42. Time for the 11:00 report.

KING5 in Seattle just reported it as breaking news 1 minute ago…

Wow. I didn’t know that he had died. He will be missed.

Wow- there goes another icon. I disliked his foul language but loved everything else. So many routines H and I quoted bits of. Really enjoyed his insights- at the moment his definition of sports comes to mind, with all the reasons so many aren’t… will miss him.

Oh, yes he will be missed.

I have never looked at Cheese Nips (the crackers) the same after hearing his “bit”.

^I still remember his “We want blue food!” bit back in the 70s, and his hosting the first episode of Saturday Night Live. My two older girls remember his as Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station(succeeding Ringo Starr in the role). RIP George.

He was my favorite comedian. I can’t think of anyone more fitting to receive the Mark Twain Prize. I think he’d have been Twain’s favorite comedian, too. The wordplay at the center of his best routines (including but not limited to “7 Words”) was extraordinary. I admire his stubborn irreverence and his refusal to mellow as he aged.

Whenever I have to make a long car drive by myself, I listen to Carlin. The time flies. What sad news this morning.

The hippy dippy weatherman. Que pasa?

As he got older he got crankier and crankier. He did have a way with words.

I loved George Carlin, and his brilliant, original mind.

Saw George Carlin 2 years ago where he looked great, and was funnier than ever. He was grateful to have made it to his “favorite age”.

RIP Hippie-Dippie Weatherman.

Yup, “hippie dippy weatherman” and his bit on “stuff”.
I liked his early bits. Not a fan later on.

RIP, George. I’m fonder of his earlier routines, but I’ve never lost respect or appreciation for his wit & intelligence.

Lots of good bits mentioned so far. I can’t forget his fake contraception ads - PregNOT or, for those who like a little suspense, Baby Maybe!

He really was right on.
[One of my favorites](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u6lCBnRoHQ&eurl=http://mashable.com/2008/06/23/george-carlin-dead/)

I was always amazed to see him as Mr. Conductor, knowing his normal routines.

One of mine too EK. I bought his book “When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops” for DS last Christmas…
It is a classic.

My son is going to be heartbroken - he was his favorite. Very sad news.

He was the Pride of Morningside Heights. He memories and characterizations of growing up there were hilarious.

Yes, George’s “seven dirty censored words” skit is a classic. RIP, George.

Many current college & HS students would have first heard of George Carlin as the narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine in the late 80s & early 90s.
