Has anyone attended a previous year?</p>
<p>I just discovered this program today - I think I’m going to apply. I’m trying to find more information about it (such as how competitive it is, etc.), but I’m not succeeding…</p>

<p>I dont know if you are blind or if you just missed it, but the deadline was March 1st. “The deadline for applications is February 15, 2010” originally, then they extended it to March 1st. </p>

<p>I saw the website right on March 1st and I applied then. I couldn’t find much about it though. I was slightly confused as to whether it was only meant to be for minorities or not…but I applied anyways.</p>
<p>I applied on the original February 15 deadline. It’s kind of my back-up program for Weizmann ISSI, but some of the research projects seem really interesting.</p>
<p>Yeah, I’m confused as to whether it’s only minorities or not too! I’m an ORM, idk how that factors in. </p>

<p>Nope. And if you look at past participants, some have been Asian.</p>
<p>Ohh yeah, I saw that. I guess Asians * would * be considered underrepresented at a school like Iowa State

<p>So how do you think your essays were? I thought mine were decent but now I’m not sure. I am sooo nervous, I really want to get in.</p>
<p>Oh, the short answer thingies? I didn’t really put much thought into them, but they emphasized some of my accomplishments.</p>
<p>So, anyone else have any insider information on this program? Is it really fun? How interesting/independent/important is the research?</p>
<p>I’m applying, though I’m only a high school sophomore, so I don’t really know my chances. I’m Asian, but they consider Asians URM’s even though we’re actually ORM’s. I emailed them to ask a question, and they said that they’ll give notifications on who got in by the end of the month.</p>
