George Washington University Fall 2020 Transfers

May 22nd @1pm is when I got an email that a decision was uploaded to my portal.

@ablessinggg I’m honestly not sure what transfer orientation is like, but for freshmen, orientation was almost entirely with people from my floor, which means that most of my friends from this past year either lived on my floor, or I met them through the clubs I got involved with. I’ve heard some transfers have a difficult time adjusting socially, but it really depends on the kind of person you are and how willing you are to get involved with different things. I don’t think the campus is inherently closed off, but you will definitely want to be involved in specific groups to feel any sense of community. Especially without a dining hall or many other shared spaces, I don’t personally think you’ll get a lot of kids that just want to say hello and make new friends. I could be wrong, but that was my experience. For people who are naturally more introverted and weren’t friends with their roommates, making friends was very difficult for them.

This wait is getting very annoying. I doubt we’ll hear anything today because it’s already past 1 pm

So i sent an email and this is what they told me.

"Hello,

Thank you for your email and interest in The George Washington University. At this time we cannot provide you with the dates for when the next wave of decisions is scheduled. At this point in time, we continue to monitor the status of our first-year class and will continue to update you on any decisions.

Hope you are staying safe and healthy. Please reach out if you have any other questions or concerns. "

I don’t think we will receive a decision anytime soon…

@bamba2208 damn that is not encouraging :frowning:

@RBevan I’m sorry bro but it sounds like they are currently working on their freshman class admission. i’m not sure but i don’t think we will receive anything this week.

@bamba2208 it’s alright, thanks for the info
yeah I guess we can hope for next week or the week after

So i asked for more details and they just basically told me that they will drop the second wave after the waitlisted freshman applicants receive their decisions/accept the offer, not really sure…
good luck

@bamba2208 thanks for asking. hopefully that’s not in too long!

Does anyone know when that would be? This process is incredibly irritating I don’t understand why they won’t just release their decisions ugh.

@ablessinggg I’m not sure, but I saw in another forum that waitlist decisions are supposed to come out soon

@ablessinggg i think they want to know how many freshmen will enroll first since the decisions are based on space availability.

@bamba2208 do you know when the deadline to enroll is for freshmen?

@bamba2208 Im sure thats the reason it just annoys me how unprepared/organized they are. Other schools actually respond to my emails and keep applicants somewhat updated with their decisions. Anyways, thank you for the insight!

@RBevan I don’t really know but i just took a quick look at the class of 2024 thread and the some of the waitlisted applicants have been taken off the waitlist while others are still waiting.

@ablessinggg Ikr! Looks like they have always been like that. Based on the last year thread, the second wave should be released about 3 weeks after the first one. So… i think we gonna have to wait again. I’m not sure tho, maybe it will be different this year.

Well 3 weeks from the first wave release date would be next Friday the 12th, so let’s hope for next week!

I sent AU an email just to follow up on my application and they responded within 24 hours. Amazing! If only GW could do the same. I’m hoping for next Friday at this point or GW is going to be out of the question for me.

@RBevan AHHHH i’m so annoyed that it is taking so long :////

@jelly2122 same! :frowning: I’m hoping that we might hear something Friday or next week but it might be wishful thinking…
