According to last year’s transfer forum, decisions were released June 20th. Hopefully we hear back before then, but who knows
According to the representative I was speaking with… If you submit right before the deadline it will most likely be around the time you mentioned. However, if you submitted when I did, or before… late May / early June!
Cool! When did you submit yours? I submitted 3/17
Not too long ago unfortunately. I mistakenly thought I should wait until all of my letters of reccomendation were received. I should have just sent in the application right away! Best of luck to you! I’m a little nervous myself. GW is my top choice!
Is GWU rolling based for transfer? Also, does anybody know the past acceptance rate for transfer students heading into their sophomore year?
Also, which school in GWU is the easiest to get into?
@DRNJAO Ok, sounds like I should get an early decision then. Thanks, good luck to you too! It wasn’t my top choice before, but the major and other academic factors have recently placed it above other schools for me. Hopefully we all get in!
@kershawc2122 Based on what DRNJAO is saying, it does seem like it’ll be rolling, at least this year. I was told that last year’s overall transfer acceptance rate was 28%, but another person on this thread said it would likely be higher this year. Not sure about the rate specifically for incoming sophomores or the easiest school to get into. Prob one of the hardest is the Elliot school tho
GW’s acceptance rate averages between 38-50% for transfers. You can look at their common data set and compare their transfer records over the years which is required to be published by the school. Also good news! More transfers will be accepted this year compared to years prior!
@RealLuchiano thank you for the info! The common data set is very helpful
Also, does anyone know which majors in the Columbian College are easiest to get into? I’m interested in political science, peace studies, sociology, and American Studies but I am trying to find one that would be easiest to get into.
@RealLuchiano Wait, for the college report, who at the registrar needs to fill it out? And do they then send it to GWU or should I email/mail it?
@17andcomingclean Try your academic advisor. No documents should be sent from you always from the school official. Check on the college report itself or GW’s website to see what department or who you need to email it to specifically.
Hey everyone. So I read the Hatchet article and its promising for us transfer students. Also, we will most likely know in mid-to-late May because COVID will apparently speed up the admissions process. I am a sophomore, poli sci major at a Florida community college. I have a 4.0 GPA and submitted my application in mid-March. I was just recently accepted into American University’s School of Public Affairs. Do you guys think I’ll get into GW? I find it really helpful to read and talk with all of you. This is such a daunting process.
@Andyt112399 I agree, this is a daunting process! I am really nervous about getting in places, especially GW as it’s my first choice rn ? Just based on what you said, I think you have a good chance of getting in- especially with a 4.0 after 3 (almost 4) semesters. But also idk if they take into account the rigor of the school…but still a 4.0 is impressive! But you never know, that’s the scary part
I hope we get a decision in May!
How long does usually it take for GWU to send portal info after submitting the app?
@whatever4ever mine just took one day, but I submitted a while ago and I guess it could take longer now that more people are submitting
Hi everyone! Just wanted to get some opinions on my situation. I have been a part-time student for a year and withdrew from my full time classes in Spring 2019 (resulting in W’s on my transcript). There was no opportunity for me to explain my situation on the application, but I was having health issues that required me to take time off to recover. GW does not know this information. Should I let them know somehow? Or should I just leave my application as is? I have already submitted everything. I don’t know how I would let them know anyway, but just wondering.
I would just email your admissions counselor and explain your situation!
@izrose thank you for the advice. how do you find your admissions counselor?
