I got accepted to both George Washington University and Dickinson College as an International Business major but I’m not sure which one to attend. For reference I’m an international student and one of the factors I’m looking at is the student life. Which school has more of a student life, school spirit, games I can attend, party scheme etc. Any information would be wonderful!!
One is in Washington - like - the city - like - it’s uber urban. If you want a “campus” - grass, quads, etc. then it’s not GW. But Washington DC is a fabulous place to tour and learn - if you like all the historical monuments, governmental type things.
The other has a campus and small town.
Such different vibes.
One will be easier to get to - as well.
Both have Intl Business programs.
Which campus vibe and environment suits you best.
Some cannot tolerate a GW like while others think it’s the greatest thing ever - so that part is really up to you.
Two fine schools.
Good luck
I’ve got the opportunity to visit both campuses and I liked the location of GW. I don’t really mind not having a proper “campus” but as someone that went to an international school, I want to go to a university that offers a lot of school events, or somewhere that has a lot of activities to do and that have some sporting games I can go to.
No shortage of things to do in the greater DC area. And it might be easier travel for you as well.
One thing we learned when we visited GW. They actually do have somewhat of a “real” campus 10 min away from the main GW area downtown. Free student shuttle between the two throughout the day and late into the night. Most freshmen live there and all freshmen take a class there. It’s also where their sports fields are. Not sure if that is a factor for you based on your comments but I actually lived in DC for 15 years and never even knew about the other GW campus. Good luck with your choice!
Neither will be big on sports.
More community at Dickinson - it’s a traditional campus in a small, walkable town.
GW is all about the city so not as much community building or campus life, but you’re in DC.
