Hi everyone…my daughter wants to join the accepted students facebook group, or whatever it’s called. Does anyone know if there is one? She said she couldn’t find one, but I thought someone mentioned there was one?
@collegemomjam yes there’s one group called Georgetown university class of 2021 applicants
@collegemomjam If you still haven’t found it, the link for the admitted students group is on this page: http://admittedstudents.georgetown.edu/
There’s also a FB group that was created by GAAP that is just for admitted students, not just applicants. If you look up Georgetown Class of 2021, you should find it.
For anyone that called, how does the admissions office break the news? Do they kind of just read the beginning of the letter or is it more human?
@prepschoolhopes When you call, there’s someone who asks for your name and DOB. The guy who did that for me was really nice. He then puts you on hold and transfers you to an admissions officer who tells you. It was pretty brief. The lady who told me just basically said “Good morning. Please verify your DOB.” and then after you do that, they say whatever it may be. For me, it was “Your application has been deferred and we will give it full consideration in the spring. Thank you.” and that’s it! Good luck!
Does anyone know how to send in supplemental materials if we were deferred? Through email? Mail? Do we directly address it to our admissions officer?
@prepschoolhopes For me it was the same person the whole time, but it was pretty much the same deal. She asked me to spell my last name, verify my first name, and give my DOB. Then she put me on hold for about a minute or two, but it felt like forever. Then she said “The admissions team has taken the time to look over your application and is pleased to tell you that they’re offering you a spot in the class of 2021.” Or something like that. She was very friendly about the whole thing.
@kay062 yes there is a general email mailbox you can send supplements to. My daughter sent her first marking period grades to:
Include your specific Georgetown ID number (I think it’s on your application somewhere) and your date of birth.
To cover yourself, you could probably also send it directly to your admissions rep, but I think Georgetown prefers indirect contact with the specific counselors. They seem to really screen callers if they want to reach their admissions rep. My daughter called to ask for the email address of her specific rep so she could send her her grades, and the admissions person was politely adamant that she should just send to the above email address and it would get added to her file.
I would call yourself to see what they say, especially if the policy is different since deferrals have been announced.
Good luck.
Has anyone who was accepted received the call as well yet?
I don’t think they actually called anyone this year unless there were extenuating circumstances. I didn’t receive anything on Thursday, and I got my acceptance by calling on Friday. @HankE
Has anyone else not received a letter yet?
I don’t want to call and ask because I’d rather open it, but seems like everyone’s got one.
@collegemomjam did you daughter find the accepted students FB group? My daughter also said she didn’t find any, she said the link on their admitted student page is for all applicants.

There is a link to the fb page
My daughter was admitted last Friday by mail. She is sooo excited! Is there anyone else out there that was admitted from the North TX area (Dallas)?
@c011e9e At this point I think you should call, because they made it sound like everyone should have received their letters by Saturday. Maybe wait one more day and then see.
@luvquizbowl okay, thanks. I’ll check the mail today and if not call. We had a snow storm where I am so that may have delayed it (?)… Hopefully today haha
@Jess17 no she hasn’t found it yet either. She said the link that we received was for 2020, not 2021. She really wants to join a 2021 group. Please let us know if you find one!
@collegemomjam It’s a closed group for class of 2021 admitted students.
@tedandfranks thanks…she’s admitted, so how does she get in?
