***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

An actual interviewer notified me by email to set me up for interview because she thought I was applying EA. She was just interviewing for EA for the deadline. I told her then that I was applying RD. So nothing came of it. Should I email her again and ask for an interview or just contact admissions?

@snicks1234 Interviews for all applicants are required. If you don’t hear back, you might want to call admissions and just ask them what the interview timeline is.

If we already did an interview for EA and got deferred, we don’t have to interview again, right?

@masquerade98 Did just that. Whipped out an email today. Hope I hear from them.

@cisobelm nope, i intended to apply EA but then switched to RD. I asked if i could be reinterviewed and they say everyone can only get one

Did anyone have Paul Reza as their interviewer? I called the admissions office and they told me Paul is my interviewer and I contacted him over a week ago and I received no response.

@socalsam Did you get the email from admissions telling you he was the interviewer? Maybe he is waiting to get the information from them by email. Did you contact him by phone and email? If you haven’t done both, try the method you have not yet tried. If you have done both, try again and then contact admissions. My son’s interviewer had to be chased down for a month before he could get his interview scheduled. If he had to do it over again, he would have contacted admissions week 2 and asked for another interviewer. It turned out to be an indication of the interviewer’s level of interest. Good luck!

I already got into Indiana’s business school. I’m set. This is a reach.

how we looking??

No subject tests? Any hooks?

You probably have no chance without SAT Subject Tests.

3 subjects are requirement for admission of gt.

@vicangie

No, they’re recommended. Students have been accepted without subject tests, 1 subject test, and 2 subject tests.

^ I believe that the 3 Subject Tests are still required for RD applicant. Can someone please clarify that as the GU website is not clear on this?

In any event, an applicant for the GU MSB like @NewJerseyCaptain who appears to be an unremarkable applicant by GU standards and comes from an overrepresented state is taking a huge risk by not taking any Subject Tests. Why would you not take any Subject Tests?

Yes, thee subject tests are only “recommended.” But, in an information session I attended at Georgetown last summer the AO said they do not make them a requirement so as to not put a financial burden on lower-income applicants. For most applicants, they expect to see subject tests. Students who get in without them usually have something else going for them.

I think they really want them but as @yonceonhismouth said they now say recommended because some people just cannot afford them. I think all schools that used to “require” them have changed their terminology or at least address the financial burden aspect of it somehow.

I once called admissions on this and they said “strongly recommended”…

I agree with @londondad that for RD especially you are taking a chance without them. I’m sure some people will get in with less than 3 RD, but there will be good reasons (hook, other stats are extraordinary, etc.).

I think they say they will take the late Jan. tests for RD. I wonder if you take the early March tests if they will consider them if you are waitlisted???

Three is a lot, I think. My daughter had no other schools with three. A few with two but no other three. Are there any other schools that even want three? These kids are expected to do so much to get into these top schools. I feel like if you submit AP scores that should suffice. Or IB.

when i attended an info session, one girl asked the question about the three subjects, and the guy seemed really nonchalant about the rule. he also said if you go to a very difficult school (prep or public magnet that’s very hard), then they dont need you to take 3 subject tests, because they know your grades are representative of your mastery in the subject. however, he said that if you got to a school where you get an A for showing up or for very simple things, they want subject tests to see your mastery in particular subjects

wait, should I be worried if I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet?

^^no but I would contact Admissions and see if you can still get one. They don’t mind calls. I called last year around this time.

okay, thank you! will not having an interview affect me negatively? or does georgetown just do interviews based on alumni availability?
