***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

no email yet…

Waitlisted. Kinda bummed but whatever. 3.86 GPA too tired to lost rest

The acceptance rate is not 7%, I don’t know which numbers people are using. It is around 15-17%, you have to take into account they accept more than those who enroll.

D Got in!!!
Congrats to all!!
And for anyone who was waitlisted or rejected I wish these colleges could see the passion displayed on these boards to see what types of students they are missing out on.
Good Luck everyone

Accepted! Now I have to choose between International Studies at Hopkins and the School of Foreign Sevice at Georgetown…

im international and still havent received an email???

@Robinyoursoul

I’m military and I don’t get an email because I technically have a US mailing address even though I’m abroad. I have to wait until Saturday :((

Denied. This is so cruel lol

cjchasinglife. On the letter that came to me in the mail, it said “Georgetown’s admissions committee considered nearly 21,500 candidates for 1,600 available spaces.”

Deferred then waitlisted ugh

The waitlist admit rates are all over the place. SFS went from 17% in 2015 to none in 2016. I applied for MSB which had a whopping 1% admission rate from the waitlist

What things can I do to increase my waitlisted chances?

@HSStudent938 Send in a letter of continued interest, stating that Georgetown is your top choice and you will attend if admitted (if that is true). Ask your counselor to send in updated grades. You could visit campus, perhaps talk to a professor? I’ve heard that some more aggressive tactics can work.

But, you should commit to another school by May 1.

Just created a decision thread for RD

@Robinyoursoul noo I’m not military, hadn’t realized I had the sargeant abbreviation hahah oops wasn’t on purpose

Waitlisted, but idc anymore. Georgetown fell out of my top schools

does georgetown look at campus visits to see you interest or do they not keep track of that stuff?

The 1600 spots is the final class size … they accepted more than that, because obviously many accepted students will choose to go elsewhere. So, the acceptance rate is much higher than 8%, and will depend on the number actually accepted.

@ZukoFireboy yes but they accept way more than 1600 their yield isnt great anyway. It also says acceptance rate was 15% in the letter

@yonceonhismouth Isn’t it kind of immoral to deposit “just in case” while still hoping to get off of a waitlist? Obviously, I’m not going to just hope Gtown works out, but is it really that simple to unenroll from the first university then?

Also, where can I send a letter of continued interest and is there a format for it somewhere? I tried to find some online for basic length and stuff to include, but I’m not sure. I honestly do not have anything really impressive to add since I applied, but I’ve been pretty involved in my ECs and hopefully I can really drive home that this is till my #1.
