I think something I said in my interview worked against me. I mentioned that I wanted to go into engineering through the 3-2 BS/MS program through Georgetown and Columbia Engineering, so it might’ve looked like insincerity in going to Georgetown. Either way I’m disappointed I won’t be attending in the fall but congrats to everyone else who got accepted!!!

congratulations to everyone who got in!! did any intl here apply with FA?

Denied Walsh School of Foreign Service
ACT: 35, 36 super score
GPA: 4.177 (all A’s one B+) and all the aps my school offered

Ecs: lots of leadership and organizational roles, well balanced ecs, lots of leadership in service related to my major
Major: international comparative studies or something like that
Essays: common app pretty good, other essays could be better but still good
Interview: went really well
Other decisions: Notre Dame accepted woooo, WashU waitlisted, Yale deferred, I’m still waiting to hear back from the rest
I hope this helps someone next year and don’t stress like I did it’s not worth it, just apply to as many as you can that you are interested in and then just know it’s out of your hands and if your rejected somewhere then there’s somewhere else you’re actually meant to be

Accepted!!
Walsh SFS
International, South Asian female studying in the Middle East - no legacy
With FA - really nervous about the aid package I’m yet to get. I know they’re especially stingy with intl. students, so if there’s any other admitted intl. applicant who’s got some wisdom to impart on that front, pls do!!

Stats:

Rank: 1/150, private school (on scholarship)
IB points: 45 (predicted)
SAT: (2018( 1440– 760 EBRW, 680 Math; (2019) 1460– 760 EBRW, 700 Math (was super nervous applying with these stats, but phew!!)
SAT II’s: 780 Literature, 720 Biology

Recommendations:
Counselor: 7/10 - knows me well but isn’t as emphatic in writing
Teacher 1: 10/10 - quite literally like a best friend lol. She knows me better than most and shared the letter with me before sending it in - it was glowing.
Teacher 2: 9/10 - we have an amazing rapport, but his was slightly more mechanical than the other

Awards: Multiple national and local level scholarship awards, multiple BD’s at MUNs, world distinction awards for my IGCSE exams, cash prize for a major poetry contest

Interview: 10/10 - hands down one of the best and most honest conversations I’ve ever had with anyone. We talked about things I regretted not doing or doing and tackled some really heavy topics (sexual assault and social taboos in the region I live in etc.) but we were able to have a mature, no-awkward-pauses conversation nonetheless. Went on for 2.5 hours!

congratulations to everyone admitted, and chin up for everyone who didn’t receive the response they were expecting - you will most definitely land somewhere as amazing as you are!! i know I had to swim through a sea of rejections to get here - y’all got this!!

Rejected :frowning:

Top 5 in class, white female
4.4 gpa
34 act
Good ECS, biggest one was French horn (All-state, i teach my own french horn lessons)

Really loved this school… but congrats to everyone admitted

@Brasssection259 I’m so sorry that you didn’t get it! I am also an Eagle Scout and have played Trumpet for 7 years and played in Jazz/Marching Band before quitting junior year (I did not have the skill despite my effort and I was not going anywhere with it). It is such a shame that colleges often overlook the effort that goes into music and becoming an Eagle Scout because so many people do it. I put in a lot of effort into those activities, but it was ultimately the unique activities I did that got me in. Don’t worry though, there is definitely going to be a college that will appreciate your musical ability.

Also, honestly, college admissions can be very petty like that and the interviewer may not have liked you because you talked about the 3 + 2 program. Interviews are also very important in my opinion. My Penn interviewer did not like me and my Georgetown and UT Austin interviews went great… and my decisions matched that.

@tchit87 Thanks for the advice. In one of my interviews I kinda just chatted about various aspects of music, so much that the interviewer didn’t even ask the basic “why [this college] questions” so hopefully that’ll work in my favor when the decision comes out in a few days. Congrats on your own acceptance and I truly hope you enjoy your experience at Georgetown if you choose to attend.

@MyLegsHurt I don’t think coronavirus will have really any affect on the college admissions process for domestic applicants. International students is a different story

Also, recently accepted - 1440 SAT, 3.9 GPA unweighted

It said that they accepted ~1600 people which was how many actually enrolled last year out of 3200. You think they’ll take a few more people off the waitlist? Also what do I put in a letter of continued interest.

do we yet know if they are still mailing acceptance letters?

Tell them you love them and you commit to going if they accept you (if thats true)

They are not sending acceptance letters due to COVID-19 preventions.

By the way, does anyone know when they will release financial aid information?

^^ I have been feeling anxious about financial aid packages all day

Will they send an email?

@a2012canuck I’m not sure where you got that information. I read that they accepted more than 3200 applicants.
Last year similar numbers
