I was apparently waitlisted - I didnt know they waitlisted transfer students…

I too was waitlisted. I asked this on the transfer forum too…does anyone know roughly how many applicants get placed on the waiting list?

I have no idea, but im assuming not a whole lot - their max would be 200 (thats how many they accepted) and their min is anyones guess. Im just happy I made the waitlist - now, only if luck is on my side July 15th…

By the way, what were your stats?

someone got in last year after she repealed her rejection…perhaps you can appeal your waitlist placement?

I would, but time is not on my side and I know already that the effort needed to be put into these appeals are far too much for me to devote time to right now. I guess ill just have to hang in there for now.

has anyone who was waitlisted heard back yet?

Nope - I was told there would be no info until July 15th.

thanks outono!

oh, and in response to your above question (sorry i didn’t see it til now), my stats aren’t too impressive…finished with a 3.75 college gpa, 3.88 hs gpa, and a 27 on the act (unfortunately i’ve always been a hooorrible standardized test taker). luckily my interview went very well, my essays and recs were good, and i also sent in a couple supplemental forms about some awards i received second semester…ehh so we’ll see i guess.

did u apply to transfer as a sophomore or jr? and where ru from/what r ur stats?

I applied as a transfer student coming from UC Irvine - ill be a Junior next year. My stats:

3.78 GPA, Econ major - Italian language minor - 1280 SAT, Make a Wish Foundation Intern, President of Undergraduate Business Association, other extra-curric and volunteer/club stuff

Interview went great - turns out the guy wanted to do the same thing I did, we went to the same high school - i pretty much conducted the interview, he didnt know what to say!

Rec was great - it said I was my prof. inspiration, etc…

essay was on working for an intl non profit like that of Billy Shore’s.

Even if I get in from the waitlist, I wont go. Ive decided to go to NYU instead.

I was accepted the following as a transfer: UCLA, UCSD, UC Berkeley, Boston U (Dean Scholar), NYU, waitlisted Georgetown. Oh well. Good luck man - I really hope things work out for you.

just to throw this out there… It would be brilliant if you could help us out and tell Georgetown you wont attend if admitted. That’s asking a bit but it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and congrats on getting into so many schools.

I understand where youre coming from, but my chances of getting are probably slim as it is. I will still consider Georgetown ONLY IF I get enough money from them, however, I have little to no clue how much aid they provide - especially for someone coming off of a waitlist. So im sorry to say I wont be calling them to tell’em I wont be attending period - I worked way too hard on my application to just back out - best of luck though.

yeah no prob, it was worth a shot.
so I guess we all get mail by the 15th?

rejected…

nooo way! u got a letter in the mail already? gdubz im so sorry to hear that
im sure they had veeery few spots to give to those of us on the waiting list…boo. oh well, GU’s loss.

outono, i thought you said you wouldnt go to gu because youve already decided on nyu…now ur story changes? hmm, interesting…well congrats on the acceptances.

I said I wouldnt go as of now because I have decided on NYU, HOWEVER, if I am offered enough money, then yes, I will go. As I said before, why the hell would I opt out of the waitlist if I busted my ass for two years to get this far with GTown?

yeah the letter was very strangely written but it seemed like they didn’t go to the waitlist. I could be very wrong considering i got the letter and live in LA.

So are you saying nobody was accepted off of the waitlist?

it was a confusing letter. I’d wait and see.

For those of you wishing to know what the letter states:

“…Candidates offered admission had to confirm their intention to enroll by June 15. As of this date, all of our transfer spaces have been filled. Although it is likely a few will change their plans before the fall, it is clear further consideration of candidates will not be possible. While this must be viewed as a final decision for now, it would be possible for you to apply again next year should your interest in Georgetown continue.”

It appears, from the letter, that NOBODY from the waitlist got in.

yup, bloody SFS
