You never know! Who knows what specifically defines a strong application? Good grades are a typically given, but some people are rejected with high GPAs and some people are admitted with lower than average. It’s no use predicting, you’ll just drive yourself crazy. I know I am.

True. But I really am going crazy now. I need my decision ASAP.

I’m just anxious because I need to move on with my life one way or another. I’ll be ecstatic if I’m accepted, but if the answer is no I’m spending the next year in the southern hemisphere which would be amazing too. All I want is an answer so that I can start making real plans instead of speculating.

I know what you mean! I’ve already been accepted to NYU, and I’m really excited about it (obviously I would take GU over NYU any day), but I’d love to start planning, picking classes, finding an apartment, etc, etc. Unfortunately, there’s no point until I know for sure!

In all seriousness, June 1st is rather unreasonable. I mean, I applied to several schools the same day as GU that shared the same (original) deadline, and they’re all managing to give me a decision within the week. Oh well. Here I am contradicting my own advice - I just wish I could get my mind off it all! It doesn’t help that classes are winding down and I’m finding myself with less and less work to get distracted by.

I am not quite understanding why you keep assuming you’ll get a decision by June 1st at the earliest. May hasn’t even begun yet (thank god). And, generally, the further in May you get without a decision, the more you can assume you were rejected, so I guess you’ll have your answer one way or another by June 1st.

I just got done talking with admissions. They are still reviewing and they aren’t going to be ready at least until May 12th. I asked them for the status of transfer applications since Vanderbilt needs a decision by May 15th and they said I can call for an unofficial decision. :

Don’t know if that means they’ll just reject me x_X

I love your username.

Judging by past threads, people who called in for unofficial decisions said they were either told “likely admitted” or “likely rejected.” If you don’t get a clear answer before the 15th, and the deposit for Vandy isn’t too expensive, just say yes to Vandy and swallow the deposit if you’re accepted to GU. That’s what I’m going to do with NYU if I don’t hear by May 28th.

I guess the best thing to do is expect to not hear anything until around June 1st (someone last year got accepted only a few days before), and if you DO hear before then, it will be a nice little surprise. Hopefully.

May 12th sounds A LOT better than June 1st. Still, damn, I hope they were faster!

haha why thank you! :)

yeah I suppose taking the deposit will be my last resort. I’m attempting to get the deadline extended by a week if possible but here’s to hoping.

has anyone received their financial aid packages in the mail?

Hey guys, I’ve been following the other Georgetown thread for a while and only just found this one. I know were (hopefully) going to hear decisions soon but I’m wondering if you could tell me how my chances look?

Currently a freshman at Northeastern University Majoring in Business w/ Marketing concentration and minor in Psychology.
Applied to MSB for Marketing
HS GPA: steady increase, cumulative total is 3.3, jr and sr year is 3.5. Took 11 AP classes total (and exams for all).
ACT: 33
SAT: (didn’t submit) 2050
HS ECs: Editor-in-Chief of yearbook, manager/captain of varsity gymnastics team, part time job coaching gymnastics
College 1st semester: GPA: 3.75
Teacher’s Assistant for Intro to Logic (took the class first semester and the professor asked me to be TA this semester)
Part time sales/marketing job working for a internet startup
Work at the disability resource center
Member of the NU Marketing Association
2 teacher recs, one from the professor im TA for and one from another prof from first semester who i got a chance to talk with a lot and had a lot to say about me (i think this will be the strongest part of my app because these professors both have great things to say about me and vouch for my work ethic)

All this waiting makes us all second guess ourselves, so I guess I’m just looking for an outside opinion.

so far it seems like most transfers on CC applied to MSB rather than SFS/College so you probably have to deal with a lot of applicants (if CC is at all/even slightly reflective of the total applicant pool). can’t really comment on chances though. Good luck!

just thought i’d revive this thread!

Any news guys?

i haven’t heard back yet.

i was thinking, they may notify us a little later this year considering they extended the deadline about two weeks.

i’m just so excited!

Oh… you’re probably right Georgetown 1. I actually haven’t even thought about that.

i doubt that’ll affect us. they don’t really get serious about transfer apps until mid-april anyways.

naw cornell extended its deadline from the 15th to the 26th of march and i found out april 13th, one of the earliest times

so the deadline extension wont affect us :D

phew! that’s good news. i’m hoping to hear back before i leave my current school for summer. i keep bugging my mom about checking the mail everyday haha.

haha. yeah i dont get why GU releases its decisions so late when its apps are due before most colleges.

when i emailed gtown about whether my application was complete, this is the response i got:

Thank you for your letter and your continuing interest in Georgetown.
Due to the high volume of application materials that have been submitted
to our office, we can only confirm receipt of Part I of the
application. If anything is missing from your file when we finish
processing all of the received application materials, we will contact
you directly and let you know what materials are absent. You would then
have an appropriate amount of time to submit these materials to our office.

so, unless anyone has gotten any emails about incomplete files, i think that the apps are a long time coming, unfortunately :(.
