Georgetown Transfer Questions

From the Hoya:

Class of 2014
College: 18.1%
SFS: 20.5%
NHS: 20.9%
MSB: 22.3%

Yeah midterm reports definitely weren’t required, but I sent them anyway. @book, they use a number system to rank applicants, so I guess asking for grades was a good sign!
I highly doubt that all acceptances were sent out, don’t worry I have a feeling we’ll see some “accepted!” posts soon!!!

yeah considering not too many people on college confidential got acceptance emails, and there is only 10 members on the facebook group, I’m hoping that not all decisions have been made.

I’m pretty sure all (or almost all) decisions have been made. It’s just they haven’t released them yet. it’s taking them unreasonably long. i think they take pleasure from torturing us

I wouldn’t bet on them having made all decisions yet. It’s technically not even mid-May and if they re-iterate the June 1st date so much I imagine it’s because they know they take their sweet time going through applications, which can be a good thing anyway.

I was on the extended wait list last year, meaning I was waiting until late June! It was torture back then but now I think I’ve gotten used to it.

I hope you’re right!

@ bookshop: do they inform you if you’ve been placed on an EXTENDED waitlist after the deposit deadline, or is it simply determined by the amount of time they’ve made you wait??

thanks!!

@hooked Unfortunately I can’t remember if I got an e-mail or letter about it eventually. I do remember calling them after not receiving an acceptance or rejection a while after the designated date (May 15th) and they told me over the phone that I was on the extended wait list, which at the time I called had about 10 people on it. The extended wait list is for very few, particular cases. Which made it all the more frustrating when I didn’t get in!

just called the admission, they told me unless I am compete with other school’s deadline, otherwise we have to wait by June 1st via regular mail. Do you guys think if we request the admission result earlier, we get less opportunity?

I’m not sure what you’re asking… but I think the decision will be made regardless of whether or not you need the information sooner in order to give another school an answer. Maybe you should clarify your question?

@ bookshop: so they actually told you that you were on the “EXTENDED” waitlist? because in the e-mail I received there was no mention of the word “extended.” lol i am just freaking out a little bit.

@hooked

They do extended waitlists at a lot of schools. I was on the extended waitlist for Middlebury back when I was a senior in high school, didn’t get it, but they don’t typically notify you until after the waitlist deadline has passed if you’re on it. They don’t advertise it’s existence because they don’t want a bunch of frantic waitlisters calling in after the deadline to see if they made the extended. They keep 5-10 students because sometimes 2 or 3 people randomly drop out in August. Not sure if it’s the same idea at GU, but I know a friend who got in off extended wait at Johns Hopkins two years ago. Same deal.

I’m starting to hate having an iPhone - I have to check my e-mail every 10 minutes haha. I wish MSB would hurry up!

i don’t think they’re going to send out e-mails anymore. we’ll have to wait for regular mail i believe. i might be wrong though. georgetown is very erratic as you all know - ridiculous

There might be an extended waitlist for freshman applicants, but I don’t think there is one for transfer ones. And there’s no reason for one for transfers, either.

UniverCity,

I’m starting to think that too that everything else is going to be done by mail. I’m hoping we find out much earlier than June 1st, this wait has been long enough already

yeah. i mean around this time last year a lot of people received acceptances if i’m not mistaken. technically, if we focus on the juncture, we should be worried. but it appears that very few people received acceptances. i don’t know what to think, it’s very disturbing.

My guess is that a second “phase” of acceptances will come out on friday or monday/tuesday. The admisssions officer I spoke to on monday assured me that most committees will be finishing up around the end of this week.
Although it is nerve wracking, I am kindof happy that it’s taking them so long to send out acceptances because it’s an indication that they’re being thorough, and that they’re judging the applications fairly. If there’s one thing you can say for sure about Georgetown Admissions, it’s that they leave no stone unturned.

Are accepted transfer students required to send their final transcript?

@McGill2012 - if you want transferred credit for any courses taken this past semester, then you need to send in your final transcript
