Georgetown Transfer Questions

I applied to MSB

09989103: could you please post your stats?

really sorry to hear that 09989103!

i am just curious, how do adcoms decide who’s to be waitlisted and who’s to be rejected??? because, essentially, a waitlist isn’t an acceptance.

did you get any indication as to whether or not MSB has released decisions?

My stats:
Currently a freshman at Northeastern University Majoring in Business w/ Marketing concentration and minor in Psychology.
Applied to MSB for Marketing
HS GPA: steady increase, cumulative total is 3.3, jr and sr year is 3.5. Took 11 AP classes total (and exams for all).
ACT: 33
SAT: (didn’t submit) 2050
HS ECs: Editor-in-Chief of yearbook, manager/captain of varsity gymnastics team, part time job coaching gymnastics
College 1st semester: GPA: 3.75
Teacher’s Assistant for Intro to Logic (took the class first semester and the professor asked me to be TA this semester)
Part time sales/marketing job working for a internet startup
Work at the disability resource center
Member of the NU Marketing Association
2 teacher recs, one from the professor im TA for and one from another prof from first semester who i got a chance to talk with a lot and had a lot to say about me (i think this will be the strongest part of my app because these professors both have great things to say about me and vouch for my work ethic)

I’m still hoping i’m waitlisted so…finger’s crossed haha but either way i’ll be at a great school.

And no that was the only thing he said

wait so you didn’t submit your sat scores to georgetown? or did i misunderstand that part

yeah i only submitted ACT

09989103,
Sorry to hear that about Georgetown although UVA isn’t a bad second choice at all, lol.

I’m also a sophmore transfer. There’s seems to be alot of sophmore transfers in this group lol

I’m really sorry to hear that, 09989103, best of luck with your new school though!
How amazing would it be if we all got e-mail notifications today? Haha at this point I’m sure it’s wishful thinking, but it would definitely alleviate a lot of anxiety!!

if you guys are as anxious about your g’town decisions as i was (lol, i couldn’t sleep for 2 days) i’d recommend you call and get an answer. i am sure all files have already been reviewed. they just wait till june 1st to inform most of the applicants who they’re going to either waitlist or deny.

Does everyone think that no more acceptances are coming? I mean, we’ve only heard from like 10 people, and no one from SFS. I feel like the consensus is really pessimistic. Has anyone asked admissions if more acceptances are still going to be released?

I guess just call them and ask.

hookedongtown, i’m getting worried because i’m thinking the same thing. but i still have hope not many people received decisions over the last couple of days (at least on cc). so either, they’re still going to send out a good deal of acceptances or they already have and all of us on cc will be rejected/waitlisted. i’m praying that that’s not the case.

I just called and asked. They said they are sending decisions in waves and that everyone will receive them by June 1st.

Was/is anyone else on the priority transfer list? I haven’t heard anything yet.

Also, last week I got an e-mail asking me for updates on some of my classes this semester. Were we supposed to send in mid-semester reports? I did as soon as I saw the e-mail but I don’t remember reading anything about that.

midterm reports weren’t required or even asked for, but in late march i sent some in anyway to enhance my file. if you got an email asking for them, they probably just want to know more about your work in college (more likely if you’re transferring to be a first semester sophomore). don’t worry about having forgotten anything though.

Wow 09989103, sorry to hear that. Your stats are really impressive and if you didn’t get into MSB I don’t think I have a chance.

@transferstudent2 - MSB is incredibly competitive to get into.

Kulakai: relative to the college? i’m still bemused as to which school is tougher to get into
